Volume 1 : East Asia in Early Antiquity (1500BCE to 300CE)

Edited by Takahiro Nakajima and Christopher Gerteis

This volume will shed light on the beginning of civilization shaped within the different cultural fields of East Asia. The chapters will collectively seek to formulate the intersections of culture over time in order to understand changes in human society since “antiquity,” as a consciousness of its beginning de jure and de facto. This volume represents the development of cultures from early antiquity to the end of Han imperial rule (206 BCE – 220 CE) by describing the processes through which historical epochs, and consciousness, emerged in East Asia.
